ESR offers a diagnostic laboratory test for novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

The service will accept respiratory samples from all suspect cases that have been discussed with the local Medical Officer of Health.

The 2019-nCoV screening and confirmation is based on a validated method widely used by many other national reference laboratories across the world.

For up-to-date information on the virus and response, including advice to the public, visit the Ministry of Health website(external link) or the World Health Organisation(external link). The Ministry of Health provided health advice on their novel coronavirus webpage on how to prevent acute respiratory illness and what to do if feeling unwell. If you feel unwell with a fever, cough or difficulty breathing please telephone Healthline (for free) on 0800 611 116.
