WellKiwis (i.e. SHIVERS-III) Study

Visit - to sign up or find out more.

WellKiwis is a study to follow newborns over multiple years, to see how a child’s earliest exposures to the flu virus or flu vaccine influences their immune responses to subsequent flu exposures as a child grows.

The WellKiwis Influenza Study is looking for 600 birth mothers and their children, due to be born between 1 October 2019 to 30 September 2022, to take part in this important study. The purpose of the WellKiwis study is to provide information that will help scientists develop a universal flu vaccine that could put an end to flu pandemiics and save millions of lives around the world.

WellKiwis volunteers are being sought in the Wellington region only. This is defined as Wellington central, Hutt Valley and Porirua (the jurisdictions covered by the CCDHB and HVDHB).
