Measles

The measles dashboard and reports contain information on the epidemiology of measles in New Zealand.

Measles is a notifiable disease in New Zealand and these reports use data available from EpiSurv, the national notifiable disease database.

Regular public reports are only published when required, for example during a widespread community outbreak. The last weekly report was produced for week 5 in 2020. Otherwise, annual trends are reported in the annual notifiable diseases summaries and annual summary tables (tier one statistics).

    A total of ten confirmed cases reported for weeks 1-8 of 2020, bringing the total to 2195 since 1 January 2019, with 774 (35.3%) hospitalisations.

     

  • 2019

    40 weekly reports are available in this zip file, dated from week 11 to week 51 of 2019 – 2019 weekly Measles reports weeks 11-51

    A total of 2174 confirmed measles cases were reported in 2019 with 765 hospitalisations. There were two outbreaks.
