Growing ESR's impact with Māori

He Pūtaiao, He Tāngata is our strategy for achieving greater impact with Māori. Central to our strategy is a shift from engagement with Māori as an activity to impact with Māori as part of ESR’s core identity. This includes developing our Māori capability through both intentional recruitment and focused training and Māori-led research programmes.

He Wai Māpuna is our first Māori-led research programme and we are partnering with iwi and hapū combining knowledge systems to achieve local aspirations with regards to water and increasing the wellbeing of our communities and the environment.

He Pūtaiao, He Tāngata is consistent with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment’s Vision Mātauranga policy(external link), which seeks to unlock the science and innovation potential of Māori knowledge, resources and people.
